Sonshine Interpreting highly values the training and discipleship of Christian Interpreters SO THAT we provide excellent interpreting that equips Deaf people for life and ministry. In 2024 we created our 10 year vision. By 2035, Sonshine Interpreting will foster a network of 1,000 Jesus-loving interpreters equipped with professional development and mentorship opportunities. To reach our goal, we started offering 4 types of virtual development under “Sonshine School”.

Identity Based Interpreting
Armondo Bilancione will provide an introduction to Identity Based Interpreting (IBI). Identity Based Interpreting invites Christian interpreters to frame their professional practice through the lens of Scripture. This session examines the influence of faith-based identity on ethical decision-making, role conception, and professional resilience within the field of sign language interpreting.

Sonshine Interpreting values the development of both hearing and Deaf interpreters. For all workshops, presenters will select their primary communication language (e.g., English or ASL), and Sonshine will provide interpreters to ensure full inclusion.
