CDI Resources
At Sonshine, we deeply value Deaf influence in everything we do. Whenever possible, we include a Deaf interpreter on our team, especially for worship services and scripted content, because we believe Deaf voices belong front and center. When decisions need to be made, whether logistical, spiritual, or cultural, we intentionally lean into the wisdom and lived experience of the Deaf members on our team or Deaf leaders present. Their insight is not just welcomed, it’s essential. We also encourage churches, conferences, and ministries to go beyond accessibility and invite Deaf leaders as future speakers and contributors. We would love to see more Deaf Interpreters trained and equipped to serve in this capacity and that there has been interest and outreach from the Deaf community inquiring about opportunities for training and development.
Here is Center for the Assessment of Sign Language Interpreter’s (CASLI) page that breaks down the requirements to become a Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI).
