In 2024 we created our 10 year vision. By 2035, Sonshine Interpreting will foster a network of 1,000 Jesus-loving interpreters equipped with professional development and mentorship opportunities. To reach our goal, we started offering 3 types of virtual development under “Sonshine School”.

  • At Sonshine Interpreting, we believe excellent interpreting develops through training, mentorship, and community. For interpreters who are still building skills before taking professional assignments with us, Sonshine School provides opportunities to grow in knowledge, confidence, and practical experience. Through workshops, group mentoring, and Communities of Practice, we aim to help interpreters strengthen their craft and prepare to serve the Deaf community with excellence.

  • Our workshops provide focused training on interpreting skills, professional standards, and real-world scenarios. These sessions help interpreters deepen their knowledge and gain practical tools they can apply as they continue developing their craft.

  • Communities of Practice create a space for interpreters to learn together through discussion, collaboration, and shared experiences. Participants explore topics, reflect on challenges, and grow alongside peers in a supportive learning environment.

  • Group mentoring offers interpreters the opportunity to learn from experienced mentors while engaging with a small group of peers. These sessions focus on guidance, feedback, and conversation that helps interpreters grow both professionally and personally as they move toward readiness for professional work.

  • We also have an archive of past workshops and CoPs for those needing a more fluid option.
